Big Black Hole – A Poem about Depression

Big black hole
You’re the only one I truly know
And as I yearn for life’s glow
You continue to grow
You’re by my side at each step as I go
Knowing that you’re the only one I really know
You’re big, dark, and ugly, in whom I’m simply a casualty
It is from you that I someday wish to be free
My world appears as dark as you are
Because away from me, you never seem to go far
With each breath that I take and each person I help
I’m convinced I don’t matter, that my words are never felt
And as each day passes by, with you by my side
I know that from you there’s nowhere to hide
Though others have loved me, it is you who has stayed
I feel comfort in knowing you won’t ever go away
Into you, it is clear that someday I will fade
The only gift you can give is to take me away
And as my ending on Earth continues to draw near
It is only you whom I know, whom I only see clear
As my ashes and dust will someday be scattered
I continue to hope that what I’ve done somehow has mattered
Because of you I’ll continue to believe that isn’t so
Big black hole, the only one whom I’ll ever truly know
